The Word of God is so much more than some pages written between two covers of a book. Rather we should allow it to guide our lives as we follow it faithfully.
Several times during Jesus’ earthly ministry he let his listeners know that in order to follow Him, they would have to pick up and carry their own crosses. This probably didn’t take on real meaning until they watched Jesus literally pick up his cross, on their behalf, as he marched forward towards his own death. Listen as Pastor Bob discusses what it means for us as Christians to pick up and carry our crosses today.
There is no worse feeling in the world than when we are doing something that we know we shouldn’t be. Maybe the greatest example of this can be found in the Bible when Pontius Pilate was trying to decide what to do with Jesus. Have you ever been physically close to someone whose personal hygiene may have been somewhat neglected, and they seemingly had no idea how offensive it was for those around them? In the Gospel of John, as the religious rulers were plotting to have Jesus killed, they were very concerned about remaining “ceremonially clean” for the Passover. Little did they know just how filthy they actually were, and how offensive their hearts (and actions) were to God. Listen today as Pastor Bob discusses how each of us needs a spiritual bath, and that Jesus is the only one who can give it to us.
In the 18th chapter of the Gospel of John there is a tragic irony that takes place. Anna’s the high priest of Israel looks down his nose at Jesus with hate and a desire to kill him, but what he doesn’t realize was that this man was anointed by God to be the Great High Priest of the entire world. Every year as a church we celebrate Beach Chair Sunday to commemorate what God has done for us, and with us, and through us as a church. Well due to the Corona Virus, this year was a little bit different and instead we had beach chair Saturday night OUTSIDE! Join us as we celebrate and worship God together!
