“The Cross – ‘It’ is Finished.” Mat 5:17-18; Rev 12:7-17
Teaching Pastor John explores what the “it” means in Jesus’ final statement on the cross, “It is finished.” We look at the cross from four different vantage points in an effort to get a more complete perspective and understanding of the single most impactful event in the history of the universe.
There are those in the world today who seek to undermine what Jesus did on the cross by trying to make a case that He never really died by crucifixion. His disciple John, wants to make sure that we know this wasn’t the case at all, and that because of His death we have been granted blessing upon blessing. Listen today as Pastor Bob unpacks the importance of this event and what it means to all mankind.
“It’s All In The Details! John 19:28-30
As we study through the Gospel of John, it becomes apparent very quickly that every detail written down by the author has meaning. Listen today as Pastor Bob discusses some of the details that John records concerning the final moments of Jesus life on Earth.
When we come to receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior we are given several new things. For instance, we are given a new birth into a new life, making us a new creation with a new purpose! That’s a lot of new things, but God doesn’t stop there. In addition to all of those wonderful “new” things, God has also given us a new family! Listen today as Pastor Bob discusses the beauty of the family of believers.
“What I Have Written, I Have Written” John 19:19-24
The Word of God is so much more than some pages written between two covers of a book. Listen today as Pastor Bob discusses some of the reasons for why God’s Word is so important, and why would never try to add to it, subtract from it, or change it in any way. Rather we should allow it to guide our lives as we follow it faithfully.
“Pick Up Your Cross!” John 19:16-18
Several times during Jesus’ earthly ministry he let his listeners know that in order to follow Him, they would have to pick up and carry their own crosses. This probably didn’t take on real meaning until they watched Jesus literally pick up his cross, on their behalf, as he marched forward towards his own death. Listen as Pastor Bob discusses what it means for us as Christians to pick up and carry our crosses today.
In this message Teaching Pastor John looks at the diverse personalities of four of the apostles, revealing how the power of the Spirit strengthened
their God-given temperaments to give them the “plus” they needed to be effective witnesses and servants in the kingdom. We learn that we can also appeal to the Holy Spirit to help us be more effective in ministry.
There is no worse feeling in the world than when we are doing something that we know we shouldn’t be. Maybe the greatest example of this can be found in the Bible when Pontius Pilate was trying to decide what to do with Jesus. Listen today as Pastor Bob discusses this tortured soul and how we can avoid finding ourselves in a similar situation.
Defining what truth is in our world today can be quite a challenge. The reason for this is because everyone seems to have their own version of truth. Listen today as Pastor Bob discusses the one absolute truth who is Jesus and how we can always trust in Him.
